Contributing Writer Guidelines

Platform is now accepting story ideas from PR students, educators and practitioners for our next issue. Topics should encourage the ethical practice and enhancement of leadership in the field of public relations.

The process is simple. Begin by pitching your story idea to the the student editorial team for a chance to be a Platform contributing writer. We’ll review your story pitch within a week of receiving it. If your story idea is approved, you’ll have two weeks to submit the completed article.

The preferred article word count is 350-750 words. Longer articles should include sub-headlines to help make the text easier to navigate. We recommend articles use at least one primary or secondary source. We also will accept a question-and-answer format if the topic would be better suited to that format.

Contributing writers can also pitch an idea for the Platform blog. Blogs are usually more opinionated and do not require outside sources.
